Job Title: Yard Worker Location: Wickford, Essex Job Type: Full-time Pay: £12.30–£13.50 per hour (based on experience) Expected Hours: 40 per week We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the yard and ensuring seamless operations in our warehouse. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. Responsibilities: - Operate forklifts and other machinery safely to load and unload materials. - Build and maintain yard structures as required. - Use a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track and manage inventory efficiently. - Ensure materials are stored and organized properly within the yard. - Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments. - Conduct routine inspections of equipment and yard areas to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. - Assist with heavy lifting tasks while adhering to all safety protocols. - Unload and load deliveries, unwrap stock, and check for quality. - Ensure fabricators have materials as needed. Skills and Qualifications: - Proficiency in operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery (forklift license preferred). - Experience in materials handling and warehouse operations is a strong advantage. - Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues. - Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently. - Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes. - Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly work environment. - Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when needed. Preferred Experience: - Open to candidates with some experience who are eager to learn and take on various responsibilities. - Alternatively, experienced fabricators who wish to stay involved in fabrication while handling additional yard tasks are encouraged to apply.
