Are you passionate about helping more children live within their family networks outside of the care system?
Hampshire County Council's Children’s Services department is one of the top local authorities in the country; rated Outstanding by Ofsted, we are continuously striving to improve.
Our transformation journey over the past five years has seen us develop a range of new services and ways of working. We are now expanding our Family Connections Service which assesses, prepares, and supports carers who care for a family member or close friend's child or children. The team plays a vital role in helping more children to live and thrive within their family networks outside of the care system.
We are looking for an exceptional Assistant Team Manager who is enthusiastic about developing this service, alongside the Team Manager and Assistant Team Manager.
The Family Connections Service is responsible for:
1. Advising children’s social workers to help them identify and engage potential carers
2. Assessing carers as special guardians or foster carers for a specific child known to them
3. Providing/facilitating support to carers to prepare to take on this caring role
4. Providing/facilitating long-term support to carers to ensure successful outcomes for children
5. Contributing towards our strategy of increasing the number of children placed with family and friends carers outside of the care system (for example with Special Guardians)
Flexibility in working hours is sometimes required; this means you may be required to work outside of standard business hours on some occasions.
If you are excited by this opportunity to contribute to the development of this service and work with a team of dedicated Social Workers and practitioners to deliver change for children and carers, then we look forward to receiving your application.
