The role of the Tissue Viability Nursing Associate is to work with the multi-professional team, supporting the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising tissue viability clinicians. The Tissue Viability Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings including hospitals, domiciliary and care homes. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process (Health Education England 2018). Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to a nationally recognised Nursing and Midwifery Councils code of conduct (NMC) and must meet the NMC standards of proficiency.

Job responsibilities
1. Be able to create a professional nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts and innovation whilst reflecting organisational strategy and values.
2. To deliver direct and indirect patient care.
3. To participate in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
4. To participate in and deliver programmes of tissue viability training to internal and external employees via classroom and virtual methods.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* Nursing Associate Foundation Degree from an approved nursing associate programme.
* Registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register.
* GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Additional post-registration qualification relevant to field of practice.
* Have completed training or study in areas relevant to the role applied for or be willing to undertake.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Relevant experience in the field of area applied for.
* Relevant experience of working with patients and families from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
* Relevant experience of working self-directed or as part of a team.
* Understanding the scope of the nursing associate role in the context of the multidisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role will contribute to service development.
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within the Code.
* Relevant knowledge related to best practice guidance for care of patients and their families.
* Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
* Understands the requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies for adults and children.
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
* Venepuncture and cannulation/extended roles and skills relevant to the work area.
* IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems.
* Skills in research and audit methodology or willing to undertake.
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES)
* Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated caseload.
* Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice when needed.
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
* Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise workload effectively.
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
* Ability to support, supervise and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.

Salary: £26,530 to £29,114 a year, pro rata.
