JobSummary
The role of the ProjectManager is to take full ownership and responsibility of allelements of the project management process from inception throughto implementation delivery and final signoff. All projects arerequired to be delivered in accordance with the VIRTUS projectmanagement process to agreed timescales budgeted costs and therequired quality levels.
As a Project Manageryou will be required to support the project delivery team withdaytoday issues remove blockages to progress and regularly reportto the Project Director on progress.
As ProjectManager you will be responsible for providing regular updates tothe Project Director compiling weekly reports and ensuringcompliance to the project management PMO process. The ProjectManager will utilise the escalation process as and when required tomitigate project risks and maintain projectprogrammes.
The Project Manager provides the mainpoint of contact throughout the lifecycle of the project for allinternal and external stakeholders and ensures the successfulhandover to VIRTUS Operations on final acceptance. Health andsafety are always regarded as the top priority and should not becompromised with a focus given to driving continual improvement inthis area.
Working closely with the ProjectDirector VIRTUS Design team and external design consultants theProject Manager reviews existing project demands capturing andquantifying the objectives to produce project plans programmes anddeliverables.
The Project Manager promotes andmaintains the core values of VIRTUS Data Centres acting as anambassador for theorganisation.
Duties andResponsibilities
Act as theProject Manager for construction works across the portfolio ofVIRTUS Data Centre projects. Works will include thefollowing:
* Management of Health andSafety of the works across all Data Centreprojects
* Ensuring that the project scope isclearly defined capturing the objectives and project briefminimising variations scope creep and costincreases
* Coordination of works to ensuretimely delivery of the project including liaison with theconstruction team contractors external resources and the site FMteam
* Preparation submission and tracking of allnecessary changes via SNOW and acquiring approval and signoff viathe CAB for works to proceed
* Responsible forensuring completion of final commissioning with support fromspecialist teams (external or internal) before handover to theOperations Team
* Preparation of snagging listsand management of closing out of items
* Formalhandover to VIRTUS Operations team at projectcompletion
* Providing Project Management supporton any additional works carried out on other sites where necessary
* Management of project costs in line with anapproved business case
* Regular reporting onthe progress of the project to the Project Director
* Management of external consultants andthirdparty supply partners required to deliver the project
* Liaison with and progress reporting to VIRTUSCustomers and the Project Director
* Obtainingquotes from 3rd parties and raising internalPurchase Requisition
* Any other reasonablerequests made by your linemanager
What successlooks like in 12 monthstime:
* ProjectsDelivered on time and budget
* CustomerSuccess/feedback gathered and results collated to show continuousimprovement over the period
* Adherence to allaspects of the Project PMO
* ALL Project PMOaudits to achieve a minimum score of 75%
* ALLProject Health & Safety audits to achieve a minimum scoreof 80%
* No incidents or accidents on anyproject for the period
* Timesheet and projecttracker to be updated weekly on all projects anddemands
* Weekly status updates to be completedon all projects anddemands
PersonSpecification
Previous experienceworking within Data Centres and deliveryof successful projects isessential. The successful applicant will also havesubstantialProject Management experience and a proven ability tomanagemultiple concurrent projects. Previous Line ManagementExperience is desirable.
* PRINCE2 APMor other Project Management certification preferred
* Proven Project Management skills in a technicalenvironment
* Demonstrable experience inmanaging budgets and financial tracking
* Demonstrable experience in delivering projects to clientsatisfaction
* Good working knowledge of MSOffice and MS Project
* Able to understandmanage and track project schedules
* Demonstrable change management skills
* experience in a technical trade qualification inengineering (critical environments or other sector) would be anadvantage
* Skilled in the identificationanalysis and management of project risks
* Ableto effectively manage project issues to successful closure
* Is Experienced in delivering set projectquality criteria
* Any other reasonable requestsmade by your line manager
In linewith VIRTUS Vetting Policy the successful applicant must be willingto undergo a BS7858 screeningprocess.
