What's involved with this role: Interim Senior Children & Families Lawyer Pay Rate: Up to £40.07 per hour PAYE depending on experience Please note the pay rate is provisional only and the ad will be amended with the confirmed rate, once received. Hybrid working - Must be willing to undertake remote and in person advocacy and attend the office one-two times per month. Standard DBS disclosure required for this role Key Requirements: Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a current practising certificate. Recent and extensive experience in public and private children law. Detailed understanding of the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation. Experience conducting advocacy in contested proceedings. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. The purpose of the role is to provide expert legal advice, representation, and support on complex and high-value legal matters relating to public and private children law on behalf of council. The post holder will manage a sensitive and demanding caseload, delivering timely, strategic legal solutions while demonstrating excellent client care, advocacy, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Provide effective, high-level legal representation and advice on complex legal matters and projects of strategic importance. Maintain a proactive, solutions-focused attitude and contribute positively to the development of the legal service. Deliver professional legal services to a high standard for internal clients and, where applicable, external stakeholders. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a role model and trusted advisor to achieve service and council objectives. Analyse complex legal information to assess implications, identify risk, and support informed client decision-making. Communicate legal advice clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats tailored to varied audiences. Provide advocacy in courts and tribunals where required, particularly in contested children law proceedings.
