JOB PURPOSE: To plan and implement activities appropriate to those who reside at Towerview Care. To assist the Home Manager to organise fundraising events. To support the occupational therapist to deliver individual and group activities that are therapeutically beneficial.

Required:
* Proven ability to develop and organise a range of events/activities.

* Genuine interest in working with the people who reside at Towerview Care.
* Satisfactory Police Check and check against the ISA List (where applicable).
Desired:
* Previous experience of working with people with mental health needs and complex care.
* Qualification in remedial/occupational therapies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Activities:
* Help people to socialise within the Homes and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes.
* Plan and initiate monthly rolling/individual programme and encourage Clients to maintain pre-existing hobbies.
* Encourage, support and guide Staff Members, Relatives and Friends to participate in Towerview Care’s activities.
* Accompany people, where possible, to offsite activities, which may take place across seven days a week and evenings.
* Help to create an atmosphere that suits the people within the Homes.
* Assist with fund raising and budgeting for entertainments, materials, and outings.
* Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using appropriate documentation and assist as part of the MDT to review and update Care plans.
* To liaise with and organise participation of community groups in the home life, and also to ensure that everyone is part of the local community and are supported to join the library, a gym, go swimming.
Infection Prevention & Control:
* Infection prevention & control is everybody’s responsibility; it is a requirement for all Towerview Care staff to comply with all the infection control policies and procedures.
* All Towerview Care staff should ensure that they fulfil their responsibilities for infection prevention and control, that they provide leadership where appropriate in infection control matters and that they challenge poor infection control practice in their workplace.
* All staff must adhere to Towerview Care’s Hand Decontamination Policy.
* All staff are expected to behave in a manner which protects residents, public, and colleagues from infection risks within the scope of their role.
* All staff should have infection control training at induction and annual infection control updates.
Communication:
* Discuss the aims and objectives of recreation therapy with other Staff Members.
* Report any changes in physical or emotional condition of those who reside at Towerview Care to the nurse in charge and/or Home Manager.
* Provide comfort and company, on a one-to-one basis, for people who are unable to undertake any form of activity.
* Arrange/participate in Staff meetings, as and when required.
Human Resources (HR):
* Assist the Home Manager when interviewing relevant Volunteers and assistant Staff Members, and supervise their work, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
Marketing:
* Actively market Towerview Care and promote a positive personal/professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Homes always.
Training & Development:
* Ensure all Staff Members know how to use appropriate equipment.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
Health & Safety:
* Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a colleague, self or another, ensuring documentation is completed accordingly.
* Understand and ensure the implementation of the Homes Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
* Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
* Promote safe working practice in the Homes.
General:
* Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties as per GDPR Policies and procedures.
* Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to work, and on your return to work from all periods of absence.
* Ensure the security of the Homes is always maintained.
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
* Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
* Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
* It is an expectation of all staff to have vaccines or other essential health treatments, in line with Public Health guidelines and in relation to health and safety in an effort to protect yourself as well as others.
