Job Role Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer you will dismantle, inspect, record, refurbish, repair, rebuild and test a wide range of rotating equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes) and ancillary equipment. You will be expected to follow company policies, procedures and work instructions, and work to high standards of quality and safety .
Key Responsibilities
· Adhere to all company H&S policies and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues. Promote a culture of working safely as routine.
· Work in an efficient and effective manner, maintaining workplace standards of organisation and cleanliness.
· Dismantle and inspect rotating equipment and plant.
· Compile inspection reports, including dimensional checks and tolerances, photographing and labelling components in line with company procedures.
· Clean, refurbish, repair and re-build equipment in line with Company procedures and working to industry standards, such as British Standards, WIMES and OEM specifications
· Undertake equipment testing, such as hydrostatic pressure / leak detection testing, Motor run tests, Gearbox (off-load) run tests and free-running checks.
· Paint, finish and quality inspection of completed equipment.
· Ensure quality of work meets the company and customer’s expectations.
· Manage your workload to ensure customer timescales are achieved.
· Deliver on commitments, taking personal responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction is always achieved.
· On occasion, you may be asked to attend customer sites to assist Site Services Engineers.
Skills and Experience
Essential
· Prior work experience in the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of pumps, motors, gearboxes, rotating plant & equipment.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 3 or C&G in Mechanical Fitting or time served apprenticeship.
* Knowledge of pump and motor fundamentals.
* Experience in fault finding & diagnosis.
* Basic electrical testing knowledge – training can be provided.
* BPMA trained would be advantageous.
* Driving license.
