Alice loves to spend time with her family and enjoys sensory play. Alice was born with Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS), a rare genetic condition which means Alice requires support in all aspects of daily living. As a result of CdLS, Alice has global development delay, a hearing impairment, is pre-verbal, her mobility is affected, and she has limb difference on her upper limbs. Recently Alice has started using a prosthetic with a painting and eating attachment, very exciting – although Alice has been known to transform the eating attachment to a catapult to get rid of the horrid vegetables on her plate! Alice can make her needs and wants known through sounds and body language and is working on her communication skills. Crawling is her current method of moving, however, she has just started using a Grillo walker – so watch this space!Overview of role: The SEN Nanny role will be providing 1:1 support to Alice in all areas; working in collaboration with her parents, medical professionals, her multi-disciplinary team (MDT), and nursery. Her MDT of therapists is growing, and Alice is working hard to reach her goals and targets. The SEN Nanny will work alongside her therapy team (OT, physio), and with training and support, implement her programmes in a fun and creative way. Alice should be given every opportunity, so it is essential that all areas of her development skills are worked on. Due to Alice’s physical disability, the SEN Nanny will be creative to enable Alice to participate in all activities. Typical duties include pre-school pick-ups (Thursday and Friday), planning activities, preparing meals (pureed diet), nursery duties, etc.Who this job would suit: An SEN Nanny (*female), with previous experience supporting children with additional needs. An energetic, confident, and respectful SEN Nanny who is culturally aware, enjoys working as part of a team, and is an excellent communicator. Driver and car owner are essential. What’s great about this job: This is an exciting new role supporting a fabulous little girl to reach her full potential.
