Job description Job Description We are currently seeking a dedicated Parks Operative for a public sector client in Belfast's City and Neighbourhood Services Department. This role will focus on maintaining public spaces, ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of various parks and facilities. Key Responsibilities: Vehicle Operation and Maintenance: Drive and maintain allocated vehicles and equipment, including trailers, mowers, and tractors. Gardening and Horticultural Tasks: Perform tasks such as planting, mowing, hedge trimming, and litter removal, contributing to the upkeep of public spaces. Playground and Facility Inspection: Assist with playground and equipment inspections, perform minor repairs, and ensure adherence to safety standards. Community Engagement: Support community garden initiatives, work with volunteers, and assist in organizing and executing local events. Essential Criteria: License Requirement: Current C1+E driving license for Northern Ireland, enabling the operation of vehicle and plant trailer. Experience: At least one year of experience in horticultural duties, tool handling per health and safety regulations, and public interaction. Assessment Requirement: Candidates must pass a driving assessment to confirm their ability to operate large vehicles under the Category C1+E license. Recent successful assessments with Belfast City Council are valid. Skills and Attributes: Health and Safety Awareness: Commitment to safety standards for both public and team well-being. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using horticultural tools and machinery with knowledge of plant care.
