Our client is a leading distribution organisation, that is part of a global group with facilities throughout the UK. Due to internal growth within the site they are looking for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to work hands-on with the team and lead the engineering operation.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Provide electrical & mechanical support & repairs for all automated materials handling systems
2. Carry out PPM’s, reactive maintenance & project work
3. Leading a team of 5 engineers on site
4. Responsible for MHE equipment, facilities, building services, refrigeration, site services
5. Dealing with motors, electrical, contactors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, relays, electronics
6. Carry out staff appraisals, training, disciplinaries, reviews, holiday management
7. Accident and incident investigations
8. Ordering and management of spare parts & suppliers
9. PPM planning & scheduling, workload allocation
10. Out of hours support – on-call weekends when needed
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
11. Ideally be a multi-skilled engineer
12. Must have worked as a maintenance lead / supervisor / team leader previously
13. Strong character, with excellent leadership traits
14. Qualified to minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
15. Ideally apprenticeship trained
16. Must have worked in some form of automated environment
17. Happy working at heights – up to 32 metres on some retrieval cranes
18. Comfortable working in cold and some freezer storage ( -22 degrees ) conditions
19. Strong electrical & mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills
20. Experienced in working on conveyors, rollers, stackers, refrigeration, chillers, site services
21. PLC – electrical fault finding skills
22. Be an open character and team player, willing to help in all areas across the site
