Position summary: To support the delivery of the environmental sustainability action plan, by supporting the rollout of activities, auditing and reporting of data. Keeping up to date on environmental climate change changes and support the Epson Telford on delivering the SEC 2050 vision.
Main job functions:
1. Reporting of environmental improvements, issues, concerns auditing the company processes via ISO standards and creating an action plan with department heads to improve.
2. Supporting with CSR activities with local schools and community.
3. Keeping the legal register up to date and review annually with the Senior Management Team.
Job location: Telford, Shropshire
Duties/responsibilities:
1. Monitoring and reporting of gas/electricity and water meterage and records.
2. Keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives.
3. Supporting the review of the Climate Change Agreement and ensuring the correct information is passed across.
4. Reporting of data to our parent company (SEC), as and when required.
5. Review and update the Environmental policy as per SEC policy changes.
6. Ensuring projects are updated and communicated monthly.
7. Actively looking for environmental projects from an energy improvement and cost down perspective.
8. Support of business improvement projects across site in line with the BA team.
9. Conducting annual/biannual legal audits and updating the legal register to ensure compliance against environmental legislation.
10. Maintaining Environmental Significance Aspects and impacts register.
11. Managing and auditing the F-Gas register for legal compliance.
12. Working closely with the Plant Maintenance team.
13. Supporting the Environmental accident/incident investigation.
14. Promotion of ETL with CSR activities with local schools and the community.
15. Training and mentoring internal auditors including assessments of audits, mentoring for improvement.
16. Managing compliance to ISO standards 14001 by working with all departments to identify, and where necessary putting in place systems to assure long-term compliance.
17. Creating, managing, and coordinating the ISO14001 audit calendar to assure requirements of ISO standards.
18. Organising external noise assessments every 2 years.
19. Managing the Environmental monthly Committee meetings ensuring attendance from all areas and actions are completed on time.
20. Conducting environmental induction to all new staff assuring awareness of EMS and ensuring where appropriate staff are set up and skilled on document management system (Q-pulse).
21. Ensuring SEC audits - Pollution and Emissions are conducted within the timescales set by ETL.
22. Working with the Environmental department ensuring waste management is legally compliant.
23. Supporting the creation of the Environmental Business Plan - ensure all projects are driven in line with SEC requirements.
24. Maintaining Company policies and procedures in relation to:
1. Complying with the Health and Safety Policy and procedures in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.
2. Working procedures for all operations within the Department.
3. Complying with all compliance procedures in accordance with J-Sox.
4. Authorising expenditure as necessary for efficient department operation.
5. Promoting and supporting internal activities, i.e., Small Group Activities, Suggestion Scheme etc. in line with company targets.
6. Complying with IT security policy; undertaking working duties with ISM requirements i.e., use of appropriate controls for confidential information.
7. Ensuring Data protection (GDPR) is fully adhered to at all times.
8. Maintaining 5S levels in line with showroom factory conditions.
9. Undertaking other duties as and when required within Epson.
Qualifications
Essential:
1. IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management - or equivalent.
Experience required
Essential:
1. Knowledge of ISO audit standards and compliance items as well as industry standards/practices applied in a production/engineering environment.
2. Previous experience in an environmental system management role.
3. High level of skills in Word, Excel and MS Project required.
4. Team player motivated by the success of the company, goal oriented, excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience of Environmental Significance Aspects and impacts register.
