The Family Wellbeing Service (FWBS) is Welsh Government funded operating within the Families First strategy, the service is part of the 'Early Help' offer in Cardiff. You will part of the team providing therapeutic support to parents/carers, children and young people with an identified need for intensive support in relation to their emotional and mental health and wellbeing. The aim of the service is to improve the emotional health, wellbeing and resilience of the family, and to support the development of effective coping strategies enabling them to better cope with problems/stresses and difficulties they may face., We provide targeted, appropriate evidence-based interventions for families and individuals within families, who need significant support in relation to their emotional and mental health and wellbeing, building resilience and supporting safe family functioning. The FWBS comprises of a number of elements inclusive of:
* Access to counselling for parents/carers with low level mental health needs.
* Access to one-to-one support, therapy, play therapy or counselling for children and young people.
* Interventions which help families to address issues around whole family functioning, including support for families who are particularly affected by bereavement, trauma and loss, including family breakdown.
What does the role involve? As a Wellbeing Practitioner - Play Therapist, you will work as part of the team undertaking assessments and delivering professional play therapy services to children and young people on a 1:1 or a group basis, practicing ethically in line with your regulatory body Code of Ethics and Practice and Barnardo's policies and procedures. You will contribute to the work of the Family Well-Being Service as a resource for provision of consultation, information and support.
We are looking for a qualified, experienced Play Therapist to join our team, the position is part time, 29.6 hours per week. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work with us contributing to the development and delivery of a specialist wellbeing service aligned with the strategic vision for families in Cardiff. * A professional qualification in Play therapy.
* Registration with relevant professional body, BAPT accreditation and registration or UKCP equivalent.
* Experience planning and undertaking complex clinical interventions and evaluating therapeutic interventions.
* Knowledge, understanding and experience of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team.
* Experience of undertaking assessments, including risk assessments.
* Experience of working cooperatively with a range of agencies.
