Life Works, located in Woking, Surrey, is a highly respected private rehabilitation centre with a unique therapeutic environment, leading the way in addiction and eating disorder treatment. We treat up to 18 low risk private patients for addictions and eating disorders in a Georgian house surrounded by beautiful gardens. We are easily accessible from the A3 and M25 and a 30 min walk from Woking Train station. About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our Senior Management Team at Life Works and would directly line manage the full time supernumerary Deputy Ward Manager.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering high standards of care, supporting patients through their recovery journey, and contributing to our holistic approach to healthcare. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated ACP looking to make a difference in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake initial assessments for service users admitted to the hospital to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the ward multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of the treatment and care pathway.
2. Prepare discharge summaries, other reports and associated documentation as necessary.
3. Leadership of and participation in learning activities and clinical supervision.
4. Participation in Clinical Governance activities, and account for contracted hours utilised in research, clinical audit, Continuing Professional Development and other non-clinical duties as necessary and in a timely manner.
5. Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that service users have access to appropriate clinical cover at all times, which will require participation in an on-call rota for the site.
6. Support the service in delivering physical health care and potentially emergency treatment to service users.
7. Undertake prescribing duties within the parameters of registration and competency.
8. Share responsibility for providing phlebotomy services with other members of the clinical team as required.
9. Undertake the risk assessment and adjustment of service user observation levels in conjunction with colleagues from the wider MDT.
10. Ensure the continual provision of least restrictive care at all times.
11. Arrange appropriate clinical tests and investigations and take responsibility for obtaining results and acting on them in a timely manner.
12. Ensure physical observations by ward staff are carried out in accordance with instructions. Review physical observation findings and act upon them in a clinically appropriate manner.
13. Ensure caseload has access to all physical healthcare screening and investigations.
14. Act as a point of liaison with Visiting Consultants and external agencies such as GP’s, Care Co-ordinators, Case Managers.
To do this you’ll need to be the following:
1. Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD/RGN) with valid NMC registration.
2. Registered Non-Medical Prescriber.
3. Desirable to have completed an Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner Training Course or a Clinical Skills development course (which should include initial examination, ECG and venepuncture).
4. Proven experience as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, ideally within a mental health, addiction, or related setting.
5. Independent prescribing qualification.
6. Excellent clinical skills with the ability to manage complex cases.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
