Managing Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established contractor with national coverage, seeking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to oversee a major project in the region. They have a strong presence in the South West and are recognised for delivering high-quality construction projects across both the private and public sectors.
Joining an experienced operations and commercial team, you will take the helm of leading the commercial team to successfully deliver projects within budget and expected profitability levels.
The Role:
1. Manage and lead the quantity surveying team.
2. Perform cost management and financial reporting.
3. Manage the subcontract procurement process.
4. Oversee the subcontract management from first valuation to final account.
5. Assist the Commercial Manager with negotiation of new contracts.
6. Prepare and manage budgets, cash revenue, expenditure and cost plans.
7. Value Engineering and propose mitigation strategies for risk.
8. Collaborate with other senior managers for successful project delivery.
The Successful Applicant:
1. Regional / Tier 1 contracting background, working at MQS level currently.
2. Prior experience in the financial delivery of major projects is an advantage.
3. Knowledge of cost management and financial reporting.
4. Strong contractual knowledge of NEC/JCT contract conditions.
5. Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.
6. Full UK driving license.
7. Subject to relevant security and DBS checks.
