We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to work within our Specialised Medicine Therapy team based across the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Weston Park Hospital.
As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist you will be working alongside a team of other Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and support staff, to deliver acute and ongoing care, including early assessment and prevention of deconditioning, urgent respiratory care and supporting plans for timely discharge.
Covering a variety of different wards across the hospitals, this is to chance to work with a wide range of patients across different specialties, including Oncology, Haematology, Surgery and Infectious Diseases. Whilst there will be an opportunity to work across all these specialties as a Clinical Specialist responsible for the below there would be an expectation bias of this role toward Infectious Diseases, Surgery (Urology, Breast and Gynecological) and Pulmonary Hypertension.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing high quality physiotherapy care to medicine patients throughout their hospital stay utilising quality improvement and evidence-based healthcare.
Ensuring the urgent acute physiotherapy needs are met by physiotherapists in the team.
Working closely with the whole team to support patient flow.
Working collaboratively with the Directorates, Clinical Service Manager, Lead Therapist and other Clinical Specialists to achieve the organisation's objectives
Clinical Leadership of the Physiotherapists in leading on individual specialties and support innovative ideas.
Clinical leadership in the development of skills across professions and to therapy assistants and technical instructors.
Leading on the clinical aspects of developing staff working on integrated Medicine wards.
Sharing developments within and outside the Trust
There will be opportunities for:
Supervision and mentorship of Therapy staff
A variety of teaching/training commitments within the Division and Acute Therapy Services
Organisation of service delivery and selected line management responsibilities
Participation in a range of clinical governance/assurance/management forums.
Networking and benchmark outside the trust.

Please note this vacancy is advertised as a permanent contract but a secondment may be considered.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc in Physiotherapy
* Current HPC Registration
* Postgraduate Masters level module in relevant subject to this post or equivalent relevant knowledge and skills accumulated through formal training and experiential learning.
Experience
* Extensive experience as a qualified therapist.
* Significant experience at Specialist level in relevant specialty.
* Clinical Educator
* Participation in Clinical Audit & Practice Development
* Supervision and line management of Therapy staff including appraisal
* Professional Presentations
* Experience in emergency respiratory on call including weekend work (PT only)
* Demonstrates a clear understanding of the role of acute therapy within the NHS
* Demonstrates ability to deliver high level decision making regarding rehabilitation and discharges.
* Acute Inpatient experience in the NHS
