Job Description
Your new career
Council’s Environmental Health team is currently seeking an Environmental Health Support Officer to assist with administrative duties on a permanent part-time basis.
The Environmental Health team is responsible for delivering a broad range of services which are aimed at protecting the community and improving local public health standards. The majority of work completed is done so under state health legislation.
The team’s core services include:
* Food safety management;
* Infectious disease control (within beauty therapy, tattoo; accommodation, aquatic facility, skin penetration and colonic irrigation businesses);
* Childhood and adolescent immunisation;
* Onsite wastewater (septic tank system) management;
* Public health nuisance management;
* Tobacco control; and
* State health referral investigation and response (such as gastrointestinal outbreaks and single incident infectious disease cases).
What you will bring to the role
We are currently looking for a positive person, who is passionate about providing exceptional customer service and assisting the team improve health standards within the community.
To be successful in this role you will have:

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements
* Certificate III in business administration or lesser form of qualification with skills and demonstrated experience in a similar role.
* Proficient in the use of the MS Office Suite and maintenance of software databases.
* Qualification Check.
* A current Working With Children Check.
* You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia.
* Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Local Government experience.
* Demonstrated experience in executive support, administration, secretarial and general office procedures.
* Well-developed organisational skills, including experience in the organisation of meetings and workshops.
* Knowledge and experience in environmental health issues or other regulatory services.
