We are seeking a dedicated Accommodation Officer or Housing Patch Officer to deliver high-quality housing and tenancy management services across a designated patch. This role supports residents living in council-owned and temporary accommodations, as well as private rented homes and Gypsy and Traveller plots. As a key point of contact for residents, you'll provide advice, resolve tenancy issues, and ensure housing standards are met through compliance and safety checks.
You must have a license and access to a car to be considered for this role.
The Role
·Act as the main contact for residents, conducting tenancy sign-ups, explaining rights and obligations, and resolving tenancy-related enquiries.
·Manage tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour, and hate incidents, ensuring cases are handled sensitively and in line with legal requirements.
·Perform inspections of properties and communal areas, ensuring compliance with fire safety, gas, electrical certification, and other safety regulations.
·Raise and monitor repairs, conduct inspections, and collaborate with contractors and the Asset Management Team to ensure works are completed efficiently.
·Manage void properties, ensuring they are re-let within target timescales, and maintain compliance throughout the process.
·Work with the Housing Finance Team to monitor income collection, enforce tenancy conditions, and pursue necessary actions to recover debts, including evictions if required.
·Respond to complaints, maintain accurate records of actions and interactions, and support residents transitioning from homelessness by connecting them to necessary services.
·Work effectively as part of a team, participate in out-of-hours meetings and an on-call rota, and ensure all actions comply with the Council's policies, including safeguarding.
The Ideal Candidate
·Chartered Institute of Housing recognized qualification or extensive experience in housing management.
·Proven experience working with vulnerable residents, homeless households, and managing tenancies, voids, and repairs.
·Solid understanding of tenancy law, safeguarding (including domestic abuse), and housing-related risk management.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and proficiency in housing management systems and Microsoft Office.
·Confidence in working collaboratively with residents, colleagues, and external partners, with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
·Able to perform property visits, including climbing stairs and driving when required.
·Drivers license and access to a car
