Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join the Acute Therapies team, working within one of the Orthopaedic Teams at either HRI or CRH. The successful therapist will be based within the Acute Therapies Team and will take a lead role providing clinical leadership within the Elective or Trauma Orthopaedic teams across both sites alongside a peer clinical lead. You will be expected to manage the team and work clinically in one of these pathways and work closely with your fellow clinical lead to promote and develop both services. We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in Orthopaedics. The role will require you to have skills in complex discharge planning, have excellent therapeutic skills, and a sound knowledge of treating surgical orthopaedic patients. You will need to have a passion for service development and training within an orthopaedic setting but also be prepared at times to support the wider Acute Therapy Team if required. You will need to have substantial, previous experience as a Band 6 or Band 7 Physiotherapist, confident in treating complex surgical /ortho patients, be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and have experience of working in a relevant clinical field. Main duties of the job To manage own highly specialist therapy caseload in orthopaedics and supervise and delegate work to colleagues. To take part in the education and training of therapists, support workers, qualified and non-qualified healthcare / social services / education staff including medical staff. To support the Team Leaders and Therapy Service Managers in the day to day running of the Team including support staff. To work with other members of the MDT to ensure effective care pathways and transfer of care / discharges. To proactively and appropriately facilitate a seamless transfer of care and continue therapeutic management of patients between care settings. This will involve having a sound working knowledge of Criteria to Reside / National Discharge Policy To manage and prioritise own clinical workload as appropriate, working efficiently to manage professional time and delegate according to the training and competency levels of other team members to ensure the effective delivery of the service. To participate in the supervision process with staff on a daily basis and for students as required. To participate in out of hours working where required including 7 day a week rotas. To support the Acute Therapy Team when needed.
