Project Manager (able to manage 2 projects) | High-End / Prime Residential
Genuine opportunity for progression to director level
5 mins from Clapham Junction
Permanent
3 days in the office / 2 days from home (if needed)
Exciting opportunity for an ambitious, driven and up-and-coming Project Manager, with experience in the London residential super-prime market. Genuine opportunity for progression to Director.
The company:
This well-financed contractor has a healthy client list of HNWI and a busy order book. Based 5 mins from Clapham Junction station, there is an immediate position for someone to work 3 days in the office / 2 days from home.
The business has circa 70 workers on site, with under 10 people based in the office. 8-10 projects at any one time, which are a mixture of basements, ground works, new builds to full house refurbs and fit-outs. Not your traditional construction contractor - not obsessed with hierarchy. Performance and awarding recognition. Forward thinking.
The Projects Manager:
Will generally have responsibility for 2 sites, sometimes 3, from contract award to handover. The role will involve managing the client, architect, engineer, designer, etc. timelines, budget, materials for specified projects. Very much an office-based role.
The ideal person would be able to price (not full tender) parts of a tender, and who has some structural experience (basements would be good). This would suit someone who is still learning their craft who they can nurture and grow further in the business.
Skills:
Progress reports. RFI. IRS and Contract programme. CDP. Notices of Delay. Managing relationships with Contract Administrator and Client design team.
Key attributes:
1. Attention to detail. Not making mistakes (during conversations with clients or third parties or phone calls / emails.)
2. Responsiveness - dealing with client directly. If a query arises, respond as soon as you can - don't leave them hanging.
3. Ability to work swiftly (price up a variation) - one to 2 hours work, not one to 2 days work. Don't labour a straightforward task.
4. Work ethic - Work hard - get rewarded.
5. Commercial common sense; PM proposing to use a foreman on site, value engineering. Break it down, is it worth it, why? If not, suggestions.
6. Well-rounded, responsive and detailed.
7. Articulate.
