A typical day
This role serves as the first point of contact for all customs-related matters, working closely with our internal sales teams and external partners to gather the necessary customs information and ensure a seamless service for clients. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth and compliant customs processes, providing expert guidance on customs laws and regulations, and addressing any challenges that arise.
Additionally, you will ensure that international operational teams have the correct paperwork and customs set up for shipments entering and exiting the UK.
* Ensure all shipping documentation isaccurateandcomplete, including commercial invoices, CCI, packing lists, and certificates of origin, and promptly address any discrepancies withinternal teamsorexternal partners.
* Accurately enter and upload customs documents and data into internal systems, ensuringefficiencyandcompliance.
* Communicate directly with customsbrokers to obtain all necessary supporting paperwork for customs documentation.
* Verify that overseas clearance has been completed and confirm duty payments on all DDP shipments.
* Monitorandmanageimport & export documentation, ensuring timely submission to HMRC.
* Update stakeholderson import and export restrictions or any unforeseen charges.
* Ensurecompliance with customs regulations, including tariffs, duties, and taxes.
* Liaise with customs authorities toresolve issuesand ensure timely clearance.
* Work closely with colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery.
* Handle import/export customs declarations in strict compliance with UK and international regulations, including Import/Export Declarations, T1s, and T2s.
* Oversee all import and export clearances.
* Set up new customerswith logistics partners in the UK and Europe.
* CompleteAEO documentsand upload them to the internal system.
* Ensurefull compliancewith export and import administration regulations.
Is this role for you?
* 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent), preferably in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
* OR
* Experience in a similar role within a freight or customs operational environment.
* Strong familiarity with import/export documentation and customs procedures.
* Knowledge of ATA Carnet, procedure codes, and T1s (advantageous).
* Experience using e-customs declaration systems such as CargoWise, Descartes, or Conex.
* Experience working with AI software (advantageous).
* Proficiency in Microsoft programs, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
