The Role Our clients dynamic Care Team are seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support a remarkable 39-year-old tetraplegic gentleman to live a fulfilling and independent life. Previously an enthusiastic hill and mountain climber and gym-goer, he continues to value an active and engaging lifestyle with the support of his dedicated care team. As part of this exceptional team, youll work alongside experienced professional carers and healthcare students, ensuring his physical, emotional, and social needs are met with dignity and respect. Only applicants with previous moving and handling experience will be considered. Key Responsibilities Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, with a strong focus on preserving comfort and dignity. Mobility Support: Manage transfers using hoists and ensure the wheelchair is well-maintained and optimally positioned for comfort. Driving Duties: Drive a wheelchair-accessible van (full UK driving licence required), ensuring safe transportation to social and medical appointments. Health Monitoring: Assist with medication administration, observe changes in health, and communicate with healthcare professionals as needed. Meal Assistance: Prepare and assist with meals, ensuring dietary preferences and nutritional needs are met. Social Engagement: Provide companionship, encourage hobbies, and facilitate communication through assistive technology, helping maintain connections with loved ones. Emotional Support: Be a calm and reassuring presence, helping manage challenges such as chronic pain, social anxiety, and periods of low mood. Shifts Available Day Shift: 07:0019:30 Night Shift: 19:0007:30 Auxiliary Shift: 08:0013:00 Support Shift: 16:0020:00 Please note that a degree of flexibility is required within shift times to accommodate the individuals needs and unforeseen circumstances.
