What does a life as Plasterer look like: Plastering is a core function within the construction sector especially in house building and refurbishments. As a plasterer you will have to learn about all the different products and understand how to manage a job which will be different depending on the materials you are using. You will be responsible for mixing and applying different kinds of plaster to inside walls and ceilings, working with dry lining, and putting protective coverings onto external walls such as pebble dashing to protect and waterproof buildings. Roles in plastering are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving of equipment, working at height and will involve working inside and outside. All our roles require candidates to have the right to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks either before or upon commencement of employment. The apprenticeship course will cover the following: The apprenticeship course will cover the following Develop and maintain good working relations Conform to Workplace health safety and welfare Apply solid plaster to various backgrounds. Apply solid plaster to complex surfaces Produce complex external rendering finishes. Install Mechanically fixed plasterboard What do you need to be a successful applicant: - Have the potential to work at SCQF level 6/7 The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks Strong communication skills You must live in a commutable distance to independently travel to and from the branch Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships The recruitment process will consist of an entrance test with the highest scoring candidates progressing to an interview for final selection What will I learn through the apprenticeship programme?
