Job Description
IPS is hiring! We are seeking a skilled Lead Process/Mechanical Engineer to join our industry-leading Process Mechanical Engineering team at our EMEA headquarters in Birmingham, UK.
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on Process Equipment Engineering design, support specialized design efforts, and manage multiple projects simultaneously within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, and Laboratory sectors.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop specifications for new process equipment, utilities, and process piping systems. Analyze the operation of existing systems for integration.
2. Serve as the primary contact for complex technical questions and solutions in process and/or mechanical engineering across multiple pharmaceutical projects.
3. Develop, train, and prepare SOPs, Work Instructions and technical forms.
4. Participate in GMP reviews, EHS reviews, Designer risk assessments, and Constructability reviews.
5. Contribute to feasibility and concept development teams on assigned projects.
6. Support the growth and development of Grade I & II Engineers within the team.
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
2. 10 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, or Laboratory sectors.
3. Proven experience as a work package engineer or project consultant for at least 5 large or complex system/vendor packages.
4. Successful discipline lead in at least 2 medium size and medium complexity projects (£40-70million).
5. A chartered Engineer or internationally recognised equivalent (desirable).
6. Experience in CQV, maintenance, operations, and construction is highly desirable.
