Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Housing Support Worker to join our team in Newport on an ad-hoc/temporary basis, with the possibility of temp to perm opportunities available.
About the Role:
As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide vital support to adults experiencing mental health issues and/or drug and alcohol misuse. Your role will involve offering practical and emotional support to help clients secure and maintain stable housing, enhance their independence, and access the services they need to improve their overall wellbeing. You will work closely with other professionals, ensuring that clients receive the care and guidance they require to move forward in their lives.
* Immediate starts available
* Pay: £13.68 p/h (inclusive of holidays)
* A full UK driving license is preferred but not essential
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored housing support to individuals with complex needs, including mental health conditions and substance misuse.
* Assist clients in maintaining their tenancy and accessing community resources.
* Conduct risk assessments and create personalised support plans.
* Work closely with external agencies, such as mental health services, substance misuse teams, and housing providers, to ensure a holistic approach to support.
* Encourage and support clients to develop life skills and build resilience.
* Ensuring the health and safety of guests by using basic first aid skills, calling for emergency assistance (e.g., 999), and evacuating the site in case of fire alarms, if necessary
* Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with policies and regulations.
Shift Patterns:
This role involves flexible shift patterns, which may include days, waking nights, and sleep-ins to meet the needs of the service.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience working with adults with mental health challenges and/or drug and alcohol misuse.
* Understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable adults and the support required to address these challenges.
* At least 6 months experience of working within a social care setting
* Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
* The right to work in the UK
