The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Critical Care nurse who is passionate about teaching and developing staff to be part of our established education team.
You will be expected to be a role model, delivering excellent standards of care, following the policies and procedures of the trust and challenging practices not in line with these.
You will be dynamic, credible and have a proven track record mentoring staff and teaching to small and large groups. You will have experience caring for general and cardiothoracic critical care patients, completed the Critical Care Course, supervisor/ assessor training and be committed to an ongoing career in Critical Care.
You will be required to provide staff with the essential knowledge and skills required to deliver safe and effective care, helping them settle into this busy, friendly unit.
The successful candidate will be expected to work professionally, developing a positive learning environment conducive to education and help make a real difference to patient and staff experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the integrated critical care unit (general and cardiothoracic), with specific focus on pre-registration, post-registration, continuing professional development, mandatory and medical device training.
You will undertake student and new starter inductions, deliver educational programmes and develop learning resources.
You will assess competence, review progress and work alongside staff in the bed space.
You will remain updated and support evidence-based practice.
Person specification
Education
* Registered Nurse Level 1 with live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner with live registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
* Evidence of Level 6 study
* Critical Care Course
* To hold a PGCert in Education
* Level 7 study
Experience
* General and cardiothoracic critical care experience
