Neurological Care Service, Aberdeen
£12.61 per hour (30% enhancement on weekends)
07:00 to 19:15, 3 days out of 7 (alternate weekends)
Be There When it Matters
We are looking to appoint a dedicated Chef to support us at Scotland's only purpose-built Neurological Care Centre, Dee View Court, Aberdeen. The Chef will prepare and cook meals to the standard set by Sue Ryder and supervise the kitchen and Catering Assistant staff in the absence of the Head Chef.
About the role:
1. To ensure that all food is correctly and safely prepared, stored, and presented in a way which meets agreed Sue Ryder standards.
2. Responsible for ensuring all equipment is left clean at the end of the shift in line with systems in place.
3. Responsible for ensuring recording of cleaning and equipment maintenance schedules is in line with Sue Ryder policies and procedures.
4. To report equipment faults, repair, and maintenance needs in line with local procedures.
5. To record all information as required by Sue Ryder policies and procedures.
6. To report any unmet training need in the use of equipment or processes.
7. Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.
About you:
1. Level 2 Food Hygiene or higher.
2. NVQ or SVQ Level 2 General Catering or equivalent.
3. Previous experience of working in kitchens.
4. Demonstrable skills in cooking for large groups of people and an ability to cater for varying dietary needs.
5. Knowledge of regulations, e.g. COSHH, Health & Safety, HACCP.
6. Ability to work as part of a team.
7. Ability to work closely with service users and communicate effectively with them.
8. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
9. Competent IT skills.
