An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Working in a small and friendly team the post holder will provide a specialist physiotherapy for the treatment of Musculoskeletal and Rheumatology conditions at Barnsley Hospital. Carrying out specialist assessments, treatments, and providing expert advice for patients with complex conditions. As an acute trust, we manage referrals from A&E, the fracture clinic, and orthopaedic teams, treating a diverse range of acute and post-operative patients from both our trauma and elective units. Main duties of the job To perform specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentation/multiple pathology and complex physical and psychological conditions. To display specialist problem solving skills to recognise and identify patients requiring further investigation, referring appropriately to other medical services within and outside the physiotherapy remit. To be aware of and screen for serious pathologies with appropriate management. To hold responsibility for own caseload and to be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support is available from our Senior physiotherapists, as required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated. To formulate and deliver individual physiotherapy treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment techniques (e.g. manual physiotherapy, patient education, exercise classes, electrotherapy techniques and other alternative options). To be an active member of the respiratory and orthopaedic on-call Rota. To be responsible for the clinical education of undergraduate student physiotherapists to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core areas, whilst maintaining close communication links with universities.
