An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full-Time Gynaecology Cancer Care Pathway Co-ordinator who will have a central role within the Specialist Nurse Team for Gynaecology Cancer Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed individual to work in partnership with a range of stakeholders. The post will work closely with the Nurse Specialists and Clinical Team to ensure that the pathway for cancer patients is managed effectively and efficiently. The important aspect of this post is co-ordinating the patients journey from referral to treatment, this will involve working with other teams i.e. radiology and other diagnostic services as well as the cancer tracking team so excellent communication skills are essential. There will be no face-to-face with patients’, however, this post will involve telephone contact to signpost patients to other services so tact, diplomacy and excellent communication skills are essential. This post will support the teams in improvement of the service and maintaining local/national databases, this will require good IT skills. This post will be hosted within the Gynaecology Department you must have significant experience and knowledge of NHS processes and medical terminology. The role requires excellent communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team essential. You will be an integral component of the patient pathway, so co-ordination skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and to negotiate with other departments is also necessary. You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
