Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust runs three nurseries providing care for pre-school children, mainly for NHS families and some local community children. The nurseries focus on high-quality, compassionate care to help children meet their Early Learning goals.
You will be based at Rainbow Nursery, Crawley, and will be part of a dedicated team focused on nurturing young minds and helping shape their bright futures as a nursery nurse in one of our NHS workplace nurseries, supporting parents while they work.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the Nursery Management team
2. Assist in the daily operation of the playroom for the assigned age group
3. Support other Nursery nurses in their daily duties
4. Work in partnership with parents and outside organisations
5. Provide high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children at the nursery and contribute to service development

Job responsibilities
Communication and working relationships
1. Communicate with external organisations, agencies, childcare professionals, OFSTED, and parents using various methods, both verbal and electronic, and report back to the Nursery Management Team
2. Communicate effectively with all staff members on various subjects
3. Attend meetings when applicable
4. Interact with all children at their level
5. Collaborate within a team, offering leadership, support, and delegation to all staff in the designated age group
Main responsibilities
1. Represent the nursery and SCFT at all times
2. Work as part of a team
3. Maintain nursery standards in line with SCFT and nursery policies and procedures
4. Ensure standards align with the Welfare Requirements in the Early Years Foundation Stage
5. Uphold health and safety standards across the nursery and premises
6. Coordinate with the Nursery Management team and Estates Department to address safety issues promptly
7. Perform domestic jobs within the nursery as required
8. Work with all age groups as needed
9. Provide an engaging, tailored curriculum for children, aligned with Ofsted requirements
10. Ensure inclusion of all children
11. Maintain knowledge of child development, legislation, and current early years trends
12. Support and attend parents' evenings and nursery group meetings
13. Support parents, carers, and family members in children's learning and development
14. Record and report accidents, incidents, and sicknesses involving children or staff
15. Conduct risk assessments for activities and premises
16. Ensure all observations and next steps are covered in the absence of team members
17. Participate in training and special projects
18. Support nursery team development
19. Report any concerns regarding finances from parents
20. Promote good staff relations and effective communication
21. Attend and contribute to team meetings, including writing agendas
22. Support trainees, students, and unqualified workers
23. Identify and meet training needs within the team
24. Assist in nursery inductions for new staff, visitors, and students

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or above
* Safeguarding Level 3 training
* Good numeracy and literacy skills
* Paediatric First Aid
* Childcare related courses

* SENCO Code of Practice
Experience
* Experience working with children aged 0-5 years
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to organise daily tasks in an allocated playroom
