An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Relief Ward Clerk to join our team, and work on various wards within Scarborough Hospital.
The general working hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 08:00 - 16:00; however, you may be required to work 07:00 - 15:00 or 12:00 - 20:00 occasionally, depending on which ward you are covering.
Main duties of the job
This fast-paced environment provides care for patients admitted from GP consultations and clinic appointments within the hospital, and via the Emergency Department. The successful applicant will be expected to cover all wards across the hospital. Interested applicants must have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, and enjoy meeting and working with the public. Computer skills are also a requirement for the position, and NHS experience would be an advantage; however, full training will be given to the successful applicant on the use of the hospital computer systems.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent - English & Maths at C or above or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
* Computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent.
* Previous office/administrative experience in an NHS environment.
* Experience of dealing with confidential information.
* Experience (1 year minimum) in an Office/administrative role.
Skills
* Able to organise and prioritise own workload.
* Possess sound communication skills.
* Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
* Has the ability to exercise initiative.
