Job summary The Capital, Estates and Facilities Directorate are seeking to recruit a qualified Senior Project Engineer with experience of working in a healthcare engineering environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team on a wide range of technically challenging capital projects. The successful applicant will work within the Capital Planning and Development Team, working alongside a dedicated team of project and engineering managers, clerk of works and support staff. Main duties of the job To assist the Technical Infrastructure Manager and other senior Estates & Facilities management by taking personal responsibility for the engineering services pertaining to a number of capital projects allocated by the Head of Capital Planning & Development. In addition, the post holder will be required to offer general engineering expertise and develop feasibility studies, engineering designs, cost estimates and construction work specifications for allocated projects. The post holder will be expected to lead the technical design elements of schemes allocated to them, working closely with Project Managers. Such schemes will arise from the Cambridge University Hospitals capital programme, the minor works allocations or from approved external sources. The post holder will also be required to undertake a supervisory and mentor role for other engineering officers working within the team and from time to time be required to represent the Head of Capital Planning & Development & Technical Infrastructure Manager at meetings. The primary objective that the post holder will be to create a safe and comfortable facility and environment for patients and staff to promote and deliver suitable and effective healthcare.
