Care Group Quality and Patient Safety Lead (Women and Children)

A vital and exciting leadership position has opened up within our NHS organisation for a Care Group Quality & Patient Safety Lead for Women and Children across site. This role is at the heart of our mission to deliver outstanding care, ensuring that governance functions related to quality, patient safety, patient experience (including complaints management), and clinical effectiveness are managed effectively across the Care Group. You will act independently, making timely decisions that are crucial for the safe and efficient delivery of our services.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.
Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Independently oversee the effective delivery of Care Group governance functions, focusing on quality, patient safety, patient experience, and clinical effectiveness.
* Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the Care Group governance team, ensuring robust systems, processes, and work programs are in place for the delivery of safe services and effective risk management, in accordance with national and local guidance/policies.
* Foster a positive safety culture and a continuous improvement ethos across the Care Group, aiming to meet and surpass patient experience, quality, and financial performance targets.
* Lead the management of patient complaints, ensuring the existence of safe and appropriate systems for triage, response, and management, as well as coordinating learning from complaints to prevent recurrence.
* Be accountable for the effective implementation of the Care Group's quality improvement objectives and the annual operating plan priorities.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Possesses extensive experience in quality and patient safety within the healthcare sector, demonstrating a track record of effective governance and leadership.
* Exhibits strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, lead and direct a team towards achieving excellence in quality and patient safety.
* Has a deep understanding of healthcare governance, patient safety practices, and quality improvement methodologies.
* Demonstrates excellent decision-making abilities, with a capacity to act independently and take timely decisions.
* Holds exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders and leading change within the organisation.
* Good understanding of external reporting requirements for maternity and neonates.
* Excellent organisational skills.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, up to 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will also participate in the designated on-call rota.
