To be an active member of the pain multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential skills to support the outpatient clinics and the medical and nursing staff. Assist the qualified staff in providing a high standard of care within the Pain Clinic setting. Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role. Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9) Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications. Main duties of the job Each day the post holder will be required to show initiative in checking and ordering stock items, checking essential equipment such as the crash trolley, the oxygen and the suction equipment. They will be required, where appropriate to support the nursing, medical or allied health professional staff. They will be expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the department Required to prepare clinics with notes or injection equipment They will be expected to communicate with patients appropriately and assist them when necessary. They will be expected to take height and weight of paediatric patients and communicate this appropriately to requesting staff. They will be expected to chaperone patients where appropriate for examination or a medical intervention. They will be able to take MRSA swabs and bloods.
