Join our dynamic team at Moorview Referrals and seize the chance to excel as a Rotating Veterinary Nurse within our friendly, supportive team. We are looking for 2 RVNs to join us on a fixed-term contract basis from Autumn 2024 for 12 months.
This is a diverse role where your responsibilities will encompass a range of nursing duties primarily across ECC, medicine and wards, plus some surgical work, enabling you to continue to develop your clinical skills in a variety of disciplines. All special interests will be welcomed and supported. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing exceptional standards of care to hospitalised inpatients
2. Triage of emergency cases
3. Assisting with imaging, primarily CT and radiographs
4. Involvement in a range of referral surgical and medical procedures
5. Monitoring anaesthesia
6. Recovery of patients
Moorview Referrals is a fast-paced referral hospital based in beautiful Northumberland, within easy reach of the stunning coastline and the lively city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The hospital has been purpose-built to industry-leading standards and features state-of-the-art facilities including four theatres (one with fluoroscopy), a CT scanner, multiple ultrasound machines, video flexible and rigid endoscopy/laparoscopy/thoracoscopy/arthroscopy, and an MRI scanner. We offer referral services in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, ECC and cardiology, enabling you to utilise your nursing skills to your full potential working with an interesting, diverse caseload.
To succeed in this role, you must be a qualified RVN and should be confident working independently as this will be required in some aspects of the role. While referral experience is desirable, we provide comprehensive training to support your success, therefore we will welcome applications from RVNs of all experience levels and backgrounds. Any additional qualifications, such as certificates, are advantageous, and you should be able to demonstrate clinical competence in standard nursing protocols.
This full-time, fixed-term contract position equates to 40hrs/week worked over a 4 or 5 day working week at your preference. This will include 1:5 weekends and occasional bank holidays. We care about our staff having a good work-life balance, so for weekend/BH work you will be given time off in lieu. There are no compulsory night shifts or on-call, however our nurses may be asked to help with cover in the event of last minute sickness/absence.
