This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Dietitians to join our Dietetic Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
We are pleased to offer roles within our specialist Band 6 rotation, covering a wide range of clinical areas such as Diabetes, Critical Care, Burns, Upper GI and HPB Surgery, Haematology and Oncology, Renal, and HEF.
We are looking for HCPC registered Dietitians with strong communication and team working skills and a desire to develop their clinical knowledge. You will be supported by our Dietetic Team Leads and will have excellent opportunities for professional and personal development within our department, including involvement in audit, service development, evaluation, and research within your clinical specialty, as well as secondment opportunities across the department.

The areas we will be recruiting to are: Head and Neck Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Haematology.

1.00 WTE x Permanent Post,
1.00 WTE Fixed Term 11 month contract (Secondment cover),
1.00 WTE Fixed Term 13 months (Maternity Leave cover)

Main Duties of the Job
Deliver nutrition teaching within several training programs and provide training to A, B & C placement students which you will be actively involved in.
Be responsible for the provision of high-quality Dietetic service to a clinical caseload in a designated specialty, using a high level of skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner.
Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical and teaching practice, providing specialist advice and education in the designated specialty.
Work within the Dietetic team to assist in the operational management of the department.
Assist the Dietetic management team to ensure the overall service provides high-quality patient care and manage clinical governance, resources, and equipment.

1 x Permanent
1 x Fixed term 13 months. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a maximum of 13 months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.
1 x Fixed Term 11 months. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a maximum of 11 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or it may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
* Current HCPC registration
* BDA accredited clinical supervisory skills course for training students
* BDA accredited Behavioural change, counselling, motivational and cognitive behavioural skills course
Personal Qualities
* Positive and proactive
* Flexible
* Able to deal with conflict and aggression (infrequently)
* Able to deal with distressed patients and carers
* The post holder is required to be either a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to an alternative means of transport.
Skills and Knowledge
* Able to document and record accurately in line with national standards
* Familiar with and able to operate all necessary IT packages e.g. email, word, dietary analysis, PowerPoint
* Able to record activity and other data manually and electronically
* Able to develop educational resources to meet the varying needs of clients and carers which are evidence-based
* Aware of clinical governance and its implications for dietetics, including the importance of audit projects
* Able to use literature review search methods and can critically appraise evidence
* Aware of regulatory bodies and professional bodies codes of practice and professional guidelines
* Competent skills in teaching and training other health care professionals and student Dietitians
* Able to manage a caseload with frequently changing priorities and deal with interruptions
* Ability to work as an integral member of MDT and as an autonomous practitioner
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team working skills
* Able to relate and communicate clearly at all levels with patients, colleagues, and members of the MDT
Experience
* Substantial dietetic experience in a variety of clinical specialities
* Evidence of independent working
* High level of knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management, especially Nutrition Support
* Competent in behavioural change skills
* Evidence of continuing professional and personal development and commitment to continue through department appraisal system
* Willing to undergo further training at post-registration level
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
