Salary calculated in line with NJC Grade D pay scale, point 08 – 14 £25,992 - £28,624 FTE per annum.
Actual salary £22,415 - £24,684
We are now recruiting for a Key Stage 4 Pastoral Practitioner who can support the needs of our pupils within the key stage 4-year groups. Working alongside the Head of Year you will provide support and guidance for our students ensuring their well-being, personal development and a positive educational experience. The successful candidate should have a passion and commitment for working with young people, be able to demonstrate their ability to establish excellent relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, and work well within a team.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Have a visible presence around school, during breaks and lunchtimes and in tutor groups to reinforce school expectations and standards.
• To ensure full compliance with the College dress code.
• Be responsible for the pastoral care of students, working with tutors to ensure their needs are met and responded to.
• Attend meetings with parents regarding student welfare, attendance and behaviour.
• Contribute to, and attend multi agency meetings as required.
• To work alongside the Head of Year to monitor academic progress and co-ordinate
interventions, and monitor homework completion.
• Ensure student participation in all aspects of the wider curriculum programme.
• To support students to successfully transition into the school and onto their next Key Stage.
• To support year assemblies as relevant and develop a year group ethos with the Head of Year.
• To actively supervise students whilst on duty during the school day.
• To liaise with parents/carers, staff, students and other stakeholders as needed in a timely and professional manner in relation to all aspects of students’ pastoral care.
• To ensure students feel safe in school and follow school safeguarding policies and processes required.
• To deputise for the Head of Year in their absence.
• To contribute to the ‘on call’ rota within the campus.
• To act as a fire warden as required by the School.
Cover
• To carry out cover lessons when required by the college.
• To cover year group detentions as part of the pastoral team.
Attendance and Punctuality
• Be responsible for the consistent application of the Attendance Policy and promote good student attendance across the specified year group through the rewards policy and
attendance displays.
• Be responsible for monitoring the overall attendance of all students and holding meetings with parents when there is a need to discuss attendance / punctuality issues.
• Liaise with the Attendance Officer regarding communication over attendance with students and support interventions to tackle students with attendance below the school target.
• Advise tutors within the specified year group on attendance figures and individual student issues with attendance and punctuality.
• To take an active role in the application of firm procedures for managing the punctuality of students to school in the mornings and to lessons throughout the day.
• Collect students if required from home to support reintegration back to school
These responsibilities may be varied from time to time to meet the changing needs of the college.
