Job Description: The Global Combat Air Programme at Leonardo is seeking a Senior Internal Assessor to join our Quality team, to help drive our internal audit programme and certification ambitions within our programme. As a Senior Internal Assessor for GCAP, you will be at the forefront of driving innovation and ensuring quality excellence in our organisation's global assurance efforts. With traditional auditing practices and risk-based thinking, GCAP will require evaluation of current ways of working and newly adopted digital technologies across the programme and you will audit the effectiveness to deliver governance, assurance and improvement. What you’ll do as a Senior Internal Assessor: You will work cross-functionally to audit processes, assess compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of GCAP. In conjunction with the internal audit team, develop a risk-based assessment programme for GCAP ensuring all relevant scheme requirements are appropriately captured. You will support the GCAP Head of Operations to maintain their programme and develop auditor capability. Lead certification and regulatory assessment visits in the UK. Establish governance over assessment based Key Performance Indicator data and provide reports to management. Be given opportunities to develop skills through special improvement tasks / projects / focussed audit activities. Utilise AI tools and digital platforms to enhance audit processes, data analysis, and reporting. Introduce automation solutions to streamline manual auditing tasks and improve overall efficiency. Conduct regular audits of systems, processes, and performance metrics to ensure compliance with global quality standards. Identify non-conformities and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Leverage advanced technologies to optimise processes, reduce risk, and drive innovation within the GCAP framework. Use data analytics tools to generate actionable insights from audit data, helping to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Provide detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership. You will be expected to prepare analysis of assessment data and present to key stakeholders (including process owners, Line of Business and functional leadership and Leonardo UK shared functions as required). What we need from you: Demonstrated success in a quality role. Extensive knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems. A foundation in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning). Working knowledge of DAOS (Design Approved Organisation Scheme) requirements. Experience of working in a high-tech engineering & manufacturing environment, ideally within the aerospace and defence sector. Experienced management systems auditor, ideally independently certified (e.g. IRCA). Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability influence others at all levels of an organization. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners, both within the country and globally. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, CQI) are highly preferred. Expertise in quality assurance methodologies and best practices, particularly in design and development stages. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to tackling quality challenges. Experience with AI, machine learning, or other advanced technologies applied to quality assurance. Knowledge of Quality 4.0. Why Join Us?
