A new opportunity has arisen for a part-time Learning Support Assistant to join our successful team supporting students in the classroom. Warren Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, committed and flexible Learning Support Assistant, to support student learning and educational outcomes. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of child development and learning and will be willing to support children with both their physical and academic needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take on a crucial role to enable pupils access to learning, by supervising and assisting pupils (one to one and in small groups) across a wide range of activities and supported learning activities within our school and make a difference to the life chances of children at Warren Primary School. You will work in partnership with class teachers, to support learning in line with the National Curriculum.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate patience and show a commitment to supporting learners to improve educational outcomes. This role would be suited to someone enthusiastic, personable, empathetic and able to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner under pressure. You will need to understand the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently as well as be confident in adjusting learning programs to meet the child's needs.
Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential. This position will involve:
1. Supporting pupils, to ensure they are engaged in learning activities
2. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom
3. Supporting children in break-out spaces for interventions
4. Acting as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and promoting positive pupil behaviour, to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
5. Providing feedback to the classroom teacher on the pupil's progress against lesson plans, the conduct of the lesson and keeping pupil-related records
6. Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures about health & safety, welfare and wellbeing and safeguarding
7. Providing additional support to the teachers in the classrooms
8. Establishing positive relationships with the pupils in lessons being covered
The successful candidate will have:
1. A passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey
2. The ability to support pupils with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties
3. Excellent written skills with the ability to multi-task
4. Excellent communication skills, with a positive and helpful attitude
5. The ability to follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise students' welfare
6. GCSE or A Level Maths and English - Grade 4-9 or equivalent
7. Excellent de-escalation skills and will be resilient, hardworking

Information about the School
Warren Primary School is a very popular and oversubscribed school. It opened in 1997 and has grown from a pupil population of 31 to 458, plus 52 Nursery children (part time). We also have specialist provision for severely and profoundly deaf children.
The school is set in pleasant grounds, which has a large playing field, adventure playground, small wood and garden areas.
