Gardener - Brixham Summary INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE As a Gardener for the National Trust, you’ll be a hands-on member of the garden team, involved in every aspect of gardening at Coleton Fishacre. Responsible for day-to-day maintenance, and the highest standards of horticulture, you’ll also play a vital role in improving the experience of visitors to the garden and wider estate. You will be expected to work occasional weekends and bank holidays. There may also be a requirement to occasionally work at other properties within the English Riviera portfolio. What it's like to work here Around 100,000 visitors a year come to Coleton Fishacre, a 1920’s Arts and crafts-style house, with elegant Art Deco interiors which encapsulate the spirit of the jazz age. With RHS accredited gardens, viewpoints out to sea, paths weave through glades past tranquil ponds, and tender plants from the Mediterranean, South Africa and New Zealand, come and join our team who like our plants, thrive in this unique and sheltered location. As part of a team of 4 gardeners, you will work collaboratively on some tasks and lead on others. You will also be working alongside volunteers. You'll be helping us to maintain the highest standards of horticulture and presentation. This might involve daily checks to make sure all areas are safe for people visiting, routine tasks such as weeding, pruning and mulching, and using machinery such as hedge cutters, leaf blowers, lawnmowers and tractors. Other duties might include propagation, cutting flowers for the house, preparing plants for sale, tree safety work and garden design and restoration.
