We are on course to significantly transform the later living experience in the UK with a commitment to expand our portfolio to 34 retirement villages, which equates to around 5,000 age-appropriate homes for retirees.
The Data Protection & Compliance Lead plays a crucial role in our audit and compliance team, upholding integrity and compliance throughout the business. You will manage and monitor GDPR compliance while overseeing broader compliance audits and frameworks. The role requires a proactive data protection leader, who is confident in balancing technical expertise with practical implementation in a fast-paced environment.

The Role:
GDPR & Data Protection Leadership
1. Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of GDPR frameworks.
2. Overseeing compliance with Data Privacy and Protection Policies.
3. Managing the Data Breach Reporting Process, conducting root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring timely reporting by legal requirements.
4. Assessing and monitoring organisational processes to identify GDPR-related risks, recommend mitigations, and drive continuous improvement.
5. Analysing business processes to assess data protection implications and provide strategic recommendations that enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
Broader Compliance Audits
1. Planning and conducting compliance audits across various regulatory domains.
2. Developing and executing audit plans aligned with the organisation’s compliance objectives and regulatory requirements.
3. Evaluating the effectiveness of non-GDPR controls, identify gaps, and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
4. Delivering clear, actionable audit reports with strategic recommendations to enhance compliance and operational resilience.
5. Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure audit findings translate into meaningful improvements in compliance practices.
Compliance Framework Development
1. Designing, developing, and improving compliance frameworks to ensure robustness, regulatory alignment, and adaptability to organisational needs.
2. Overseeing the review and enhancement of the policy framework, ensuring all organisational policies remain current, effectively implemented, and fully compliant with regulations.
3. Ensuring consistent application and adherence to policies across the organisation, fostering a strong culture of compliance and operational integrity.
4. Collaborating with departments to embed compliance requirements into policies and practices, aligning regulatory obligations with business objectives.
5. Cultivating a compliance-driven culture by providing training, guidance, and resources that empower teams to take ownership of their responsibilities.
Key Requirements:
1. In-depth expertise in GDPR and data protection laws, with a proven ability to integrate this knowledge into business processes.
2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, adept at crafting persuasive, actionable reports that drive decision-making.
3. Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in fast-paced environments.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), leveraging tools to enhance productivity and reporting.
