Provide specialist advice to professional, facilities and support staff on care of individuals or groups of patients, either with an infection or at risk of developing an infection. Explain the significance of laboratory reports to hospital staff and relate clinical information to laboratory staff when required In liaison with the senior members of the team, you will investigate outbreaks of infection with particular reference to their source and mode of spread, and advise on relevant measures for control. You will communicate information to other members of the Infection Prevention & Control Team and other staff where relevant. Develop co-operation from staff and create strategies for overcoming barriers to understanding. Ensure the implementation of best practice in the prevention and control of infection by using a problem solving approach, and facilitation of the change process. Assist in the development of audit, surveillance and other key indicators for infection control policies and practices. Assist in the collection and analysis of relevant data for the Infection Prevention & Control Team.
