We are looking to recruit highly motivated Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to work in our nursing leadership team at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH). You will help lead and develop the well-established team of nurses within NUH Endoscopy. The service operates across the whole of NUH, at Nottingham Treatment Centre, City Hospital Campus, and Queens Medical Centre Campus.
The Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse will be based at Nottingham City Hospital, but it is a requirement that all staff members work across the three sites when required. The role requires forward-thinking staff with some leadership skills who are enthusiastic and can ensure that the highest standards of care are met. You will be proactive in the professional development of the nursing team and will need to demonstrate the ability to manage both acutely ill and chronically ill patients, alongside coordinating the clinical area and nursing teams.

Successful candidates must have excellent communication skills, along with the ability to prioritize key tasks, and should be able to learn new skills if required in a highly technical specialty.
You will deputize for the Ward Manager and support them in leading the team, managing the clinical area, maintaining NUH/Endoscopy standards, and being a role model to others. You will also be required to lead and manage a smaller team of Band 5, Band 3, and Band 2 staff in aspects such as training, wellbeing, appraisals, and supporting them in their work-life balance.
You will also be expected to lead on a number of projects and link roles, as delegated by your manager and with their support.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
* Current level one NMC registration or Current HPC registration part 1
* Diploma or Degree in health/nursing-related studies, or ODP equivalent study.
* Formal Leadership and Management Training
Experience
* Minimum 2 years experience in NHS Acute Care Hospital at Band 5 or above.
* Experience of leadership and/or management in an acute clinical setting
Communication
* Experienced in effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills when dealing with other healthcare professionals, as well as patients and the general public
* Evidence of providing teaching sessions and nurse link roles
Planning and Organisation
* Demonstrate an ability to prioritize own workload and that of others, and recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
* Demonstrate understanding of the Deputy Leader's role in supporting managers and team members
* Example of implementation of change to improve care or experience.
Physical & Other Requirements Specific to the Role
* Must be able to perform the full range of nursing duties whilst wearing appropriate PPE
* Must be able to participate in the out of hours on-call service.
* Must be able to work weekends and evenings
* Must be flexible in hours of work to meet the needs of the service
