Life on the team
Our UK HR team based at our Head Office in Hatfield is the go-to team for all of our UK employees and Managers, approximately 4500. The UK People Advisory Team handles all HR employee relations queries, priding themselves on delivering a right-first-time service by offering pragmatic, sensible, contemporary, and flexible advice.
The People Advisory Team, Centre of Excellence, are the knowledge experts supporting managers and employees. The successful candidate will have HR Generalist and Employee Relations experience, as well as an excellent knowledge of employment law. The ability to work to tight deadlines and be flexible in your thinking is essential. You will work as part of a wider HR team and will be confident in making decisions that balance multiple factors.
What you’ll do
1. Employee Relations casework including Disciplinary, Grievances, Appeals, Redundancy, and consultation processes, varying in complexity.
2. Provide managers with pragmatic and commercial advice in line with best practice, legislation, and fairness.
3. From an Absence and Wellbeing perspective, align to an area of the business to give advice to managers on all sickness absence, including ill health capability. Work closely with external service providers, including Occupational Health and our Group Insurance provider.
4. Provide expert advice to managers to support them through complex people matters to achieve the best outcome for the business and individuals.
5. Work closely with the HR Business Partners to deliver initiatives across the business.
6. Share industry best practices to support personal development.
7. Design and deliver initiatives to support Management Development and capability.
8. Build relationships with key stakeholders within HR and the wider business.
9. Draw on experience and knowledge within the other HR Centre of Excellences.
10. Ensure management of people issues is consistent with Computacenter’s values.
What you’ll need
1. CIPD qualified or working towards your CIPD qualification.
2. Strong HR generalist background.
3. Excellent up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and its application.
4. Experience in making sound, risk-assessed decisions.
5. Expertise in all aspects of absence management.
6. Ability to respond to and manage a busy and diverse workload.
7. Good verbal and written communication skills.
8. An understanding of working with Unions would be useful, along with an awareness of TUPE.
