Head of Procurement

Responsibilities:
1. Define and implement UK Procurement strategies based on demand, market and supplier analysis to ensure long-term, cost-efficient, and reliable supply of materials in the required quality
2. Lead and develop a UK-based team of Strategic Procurement experts and commodity managers
3. Oversee procurement activities for bids, projects and our Poole manufacturing site, ensuring competitive advantage and cost optimisation
4. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and frame agreements for components, commodities and specialist engineering services
5. Conduct supplier audits, develop supply partners from a technology and capability perspective
6. Identify and implement cost savings, manage KPIs and report results transparently
7. Drive cross-functional sourcing decisions with R&D, product management, engineering and operational teams
8. Champion design-to-cost and innovation initiatives in collaboration with key suppliers
9. Execute global procurement strategy for Indirect Materials & Services and support ESG objectives within the UK supply chain
10. Align UK strategies with global procurement functions, ensuring consistency with commodity and supplier strategies.
11. Work closely with the Head of Operations and act as a key member of the UK Management Team, contributing to wider business strategy
Qualifications & Experience:
12. Proven leadership skills with experience managing procurement teams
13. Significant experience in strategic procurement and/or project management
14. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
15. Strong understanding of the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) industry – existing networks in the sector is a plus
16. Degree qualified in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
17. Proficient in SAP and other ERP/MRP systems
18. Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making abilities
19. Comfortable working in a matrix organisation and able to manage multiple priorities
20. Willingness to travel (up to 15%) to partners and suppliers
