Package: £37,860 - £50,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for Mechanical Design Engineers (CAD) to join our Applied Warhead Engineering Team and apply their expertise in support of AWE’s Weapon Projects.
Working within the Applied Engineering Group, we provide expertise that supports the engineering design and development of in-service and future warheads, both directly and indirectly across all key business areas at AWE. It researches, develops, and implements new technologies to help improve the capability and efficiency to design, simulate, manufacture, and test across AWE.
These roles are ideally suited to experienced Product Design Engineers looking for a fresh challenge with extensive CAD experience looking to further their career.
Who are we looking for?
We need you to have experience in:
* Producing and delivering conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for mechanical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements to company standards.
* Producing calculations and analysis in support of the above when necessary.
* Maintenance of design history.
* Supporting technical reviews and giving presentations on design solutions when necessary.
* Working with Senior Engineers in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities.
* Applying the practical use of engineering methods, tools, and processes.
* Technical leadership/mentoring of junior staff, Apprentices & Graduates.
* Maintaining and promoting high standards in ESH (Environmental, safety & health), security, and quality.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to demonstrate proven industry experience in some of the following:
* Experience of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
* Experienced in using Computer Aided Design systems.
* Practical experience of Machine tools and manufacturing processes.
* Application and knowledge of British and ISO Standards.
* Application and knowledge of Material selection.
* An understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
* Proven experience in a Design Office environment.
* An ability to work with a range of stakeholders (technical & non-technical).
We would welcome applicants that have:
* A degree, HNC/HND, or an equivalent vocational qualification, in an engineering discipline supported by considerable practical experience.
* Experience and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering Design and specifications to produce fully defined engineering drawing packs to BS 8888 with GD&T.
* Experience using PLM and CAD systems. Siemens Teamcenter and NX particularly desirable although further training will be provided if needed.

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas if required.
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidates will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
