Senior Commercial Finance Analyst
Hybrid working 8 days a month in the London office
Role
The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will work closely with the Senior Finance Business Partner – Operations and Commercial Finance Director, as well as Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Control, and the Operations team who are part of the COO organisation. This role will primarily support the effective financial management of the Operations business unit and associated cost base, including managing month-end close; forecasting and managing risks & opportunities; providing robust, clear & concise financial reporting to both financial & non-financial stakeholders, presenting actionable value-add insight.

This role reports to the Senior Finance Business Partner – Operations and is part of the Commercial Finance team.
Key Accountabilities
Commercial Finance lead for the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts of costs of the Operations business unit area; building a deep understanding of key high value supplier contracts
Lead on the end-to-end month end cycle for the Operations area, including: ensuring the accuracy of general ledger transactions & journal posting; delivering robust and accurate analysis of business unit performance tailored to individual stakeholders; and production of monthly reporting packs
Identifying risks, issues and opportunities for the Operations business unit area, working with the Operations team on management thereof
Support and input towards the publication of Charging Statements, Indicative Charging Statements and indicative budgets
Provide commercial finance validation of efficiencies in the Operations cost base in order to drive value for consumers
Work cross-functionally providing inputs into business cases and documentation for approval at relevant governance board
Support on the introduction of the Ex-Ante framework that will be rolled out across the business
Identify and drive improvements in financial processes, business analysis and reporting
Other ad hoc requirements as required
Skills, Experiences & Behaviours - Essential
CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified with minimum 1-2 years PQE
Experience of working in a commercial finance role with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear & concise analysis of performance drivers
A highly numerical individual, with a structured, analytical approach to problem solving and a track record of implementing change to improve financial processes
A strong eye for detail, ability to review / quality assure documentation and provide constructive feedback
Confident dealing with non-financial stakeholders and excellent at building and managing effective working relationships
Demonstrates initiative and takes responsibility for issues, seeing them through to completion and has curiosity, and a desire to explore a range of options to develop the right solution
Effective time management, comfortable working to tight deadlinesDesirable:
Experience of working in the energy, government, telecommunications or technology sectors and comfortable operating within a complex, matrix environment
Confident in managing demanding stakeholders in a fast paced environment
Demonstrates initiative and takes responsibility for commercial issues, seeing them through to completion
Ability to design, build and manage financial models & reports
Working knowledge of SAP BPC
