IT Technical Manager

Salary: Circa £60,000 + additional benefits, based on experience

Our client is a well-established provider of software and systems for Electronic Document Management and Workflow with nearly 30 years of experience supporting their customers. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dedicated IT Technical Manager to own and enhance the IT infrastructure, ensuring it meets high standards for security, reliability, and performance.
The Role:
This is a hands-on role that will be pivotal in overseeing both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructures, managing internal systems as well as hosted customer platforms. You will work closely with internal teams, helping design and implement best-practice Azure solutions, support ISO27001 compliance, and protect our IT systems in a security-conscious environment. This position will suit an experienced IT professional ready to take on strategic technical responsibilities while contributing practically to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage, maintain, and enhance company IT infrastructure (on-premise and Azure cloud).
* Support the design, implementation, and management of Azure-hosted customer platforms.
* Collaborate with Compliance teams to ensure ISO27001 standards and security improvements.
* Provide technical mentorship and management to IT team members.
* Offer proactive solutions to improve systems, security, and monitoring practices.
* Drive system updates, patch management, and virtualization processes.
* Troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure business continuity.
Minimum Requirements:
* 5 years’ experience in a senior IT role.
* Skilled in the creation and delivery of customer-focused presentations and communications.
* Experience working with an IT Managed Service (outsourced) environment.
* A high level of general knowledge of business infrastructure management, e.g. OS updates, Patch Management, Virtualisation, Threat management, System Monitoring tools.
* Experience working with ITIL service and support processes.
* Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for problem resolution and root cause analysis.
* A broad understanding of technology and a good level of awareness of technical concepts.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Azure products and services including AD/Entra, 365 etc.
* Good reporting and documentation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Certification in Microsoft Azure Architecture, CISSP, or CCNA.
* Experience with ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, or similar compliance standards.
* Familiarity with SQL Server, VoIP systems, Microsoft Configuration Manager, and backup/DR solutions (e.g., Datto).
