Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Children's Nurse role within our Children and Young People's Diabetes Nursing Team working across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. The team is part of an integrated network of services for children and young people providing high quality specialist child and young person-centred care. The Team is an integral part of an innovative children and young people diabetes multidisciplinary team with colleagues in our organisation as well as in our local acute trust. This role will work alongside the band 6 and 7 diabetes nurses within the team providing skilled, comprehensive nursing care, advise and support to children, young people with diabetes and their families in their own homes, schools and other community settings. This post is ideal for newly qualified children's nurses as well as experienced children's nurses looking to specialise in the field of diabetes allowing the post holder to develop within the role. The service currently operates Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm however on occasions there may be the need for the post holder to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. The post holder will need to be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Main duties of the job To have responsibility for a delegated workload as agreed with the Clinical Team Leader and Band 6 Nurses. To assist in the organisation and development of education programmes for the child/family/carers/young people in an education setting, including care planning. To deliver education to newly diagnosed children, young people and their families. To support children, young people and their families in the use of technology devices as part of their diabetes management.
