Are you passionate about leading projects that protect and enhance the natural environment while improving vital infrastructure? We’re looking for a skilled Contract Manager / Project Manager with a strong background in arboriculture and landscaping to oversee key National Highways contracts across the Anglia region and beyond.
About the Role:
As part of the leadership team, you’ll report directly to the Senior Operations Manager and play a key role in overseeing the lifecycle of arboriculture, ecology, and infrastructure projects. From managing tree and vegetation works to ensuring biodiversity and landscaping efforts are integrated into highways and civil engineering initiatives, you’ll be responsible for delivering projects that enhance both natural habitats and public spaces.
You’ll manage everything from tendering to project execution, coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality, sustainable outcomes while maintaining a strict focus on safety and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with arboriculture specialists, ecologists, and landscaping teams to develop detailed project plans that protect and enhance natural landscapes.
* Lead tender submissions, pricing, and budgeting, ensuring alignment with sustainability and environmental goals.
* Manage the financial performance of projects, meeting gross profit targets and ensuring optimal resource allocation.
* Ensure projects comply with arboriculture regulations, industry standards, and sustainability practices.
* Oversee tree surveys, vegetation management, and biodiversity initiatives within highway infrastructure projects.
* Foster strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and supplier partners to ensure successful delivery.
* Mitigate risks with proactive planning and corrective actions, ensuring safety and environmental standards are upheld at all times.
* Drive continuous improvement by introducing innovative approaches to arboriculture and sustainability.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven track record in managing arboriculture or landscaping projects, ideally within the transportation or infrastructure sectors.
* Deep understanding of arboriculture practices, biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable land management.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and coordinate cross-functional teams.
* Experience in contract management, risk mitigation, and procurement, particularly in relation to environmental and arboriculture works.
* Proficiency in project management tools, MS Office, and digital systems.
* SMSTS, CSCS Card, and NEBOSH (or willingness to attain).
