Overview Waters is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding Clinical Systems team This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office / 2 days working from home), with flexible working hours and represents a key role within the Clinical Systems team. It will focus on the mechanical design of exciting new automated Sample Preparation products as well as current on-market products. Waters Clinical and IVD Systems deliver customer benefit in the clinical market segment through the evaluation, development, and deployment of innovative clinical system capabilities. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be supporting the Mechanical Engineering Department, working within and across teams, to innovate innovative ideas and technologies, create prototypes, drive project work, generate required deliverables and help deliver road-map goals. You will be working within a highly entrepreneurial, team environment where multi-tasking and flexible thinking will be critical. Responsibilities Your main responsibilities will include: Providing technical design support to other members of the department as well as other functions within Waters. Interpreting requirements of development specifications to the highest standard and to produce all relevant engineering information to complete a quality product to specification, cost and on time. liaising with suppliers to improve and/or gain knowledge of manufacturing techniques & cost-effective manufacture. Diagnosing and resolving technical Mechanical Engineering issues associated to Clinical Systems Development. Networking with external stakeholders and collaborators, developing innovative designs and technical solutions. Collaborating effectively within a team environment that may span multiple geographical regions and time zones. Developing and sourcing appropriate materials and technologies for medical device design and construction. Drive detailed mechanical design for components and sub-assemblies. Maintain thorough project documentation, including engineering reports and functional specifications. We would love to hear from you Qualification in Mechanical, Electro/Mechanical Engineering. A strong engineering background or experience with complex systems Proven record of accomplishment in design, highlighting your ability to innovate and solve problems 3D CAD experience SolidWorks / NX (formally Unigraphics) Ability to work as part of a team. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Conduct comprehensive engineering analysis, testing and prototyping. In-depth understanding and application of skills required to design Automated Sample Preparation products. Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes. Innovative and adaptable, with a keen eye for creative problem-solving. Ability to assemble and test electro/mechanical prototypes.
